Definitions

FAPE (Free and Appropriate Public Education): Requires school districts to provide FREE access to APPROPRIATE (general ed, 504, special ed services) education to all children.

IEE (Independent Educational Evaluation): Evaluation by an outside agency that is paid for by a school district. Requested by the parent when not in agreement with the results of the assessment completed by the school district.

IEP (Individual Education Plan): A written agreement between parents and the school district regarding how to address the needs of a child with a disability. It includes present levels of performance, goals, services, and accommodations.
